WHO ARE THE FRIENDS?
The Friends of the Library are people who are committed to providing assistance in helping our community have one the best libraries in the world.
HOW THE FRIENDS HELP THE LIBRARY?
The Friends organization supports the library through their assistance with events, donations, and stimulating interest in the library. In the past, the Friends have assisted with the Teddy Bear Picnic, the Vacation Reading Program, Breakfast with Santa, and numerous special events.
DOES THE FRIENDS SALE ITEMS TO SUPPORT THE ACTIVITIES OF THE LIBRARY?
Silver and gold bookmarks, letter openers, and rulers are available at the circulation desk for purchase. Bookmarks are $7 and the letter openers and rulers are $15. They make wonderful gifts for both the young and the young at heart.
In addition, the library has several books for sale. I Remember Life in a Small Southern Town ($7.50) shares the reminiscences of Bertram Ehrlich of Bainbridge from 1913 to 1985. The History of Decatur County ($30) by Frank S. Jones covers the history of Decatur County through the days of the Indians through 1970. The Southwest Georgia Anthology ($7) provides a print record of oral histories including the “Three Notch Trail.” The Decatur County Sesquicentennial 1823-1973 ($10) shares information about the formation of the county as well as histories of churches, businesses, and the county.
DVD copies of interviews with Jack Wingate from 1996 are available for $10 per volume. The two volumes cover the history of Decatur County and Lake Seminole from 1492 to 1957.

HOW CAN YOU BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY?
